Wind chill advisory issued Wednesday night for McHenry County

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday.

Wind chill values are expected to be 15 to 30 below zero.

The National Weather Service recommends people avoid being outside for a prolonged period of time, as frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as few as 30 minutes.

In addition, a winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for blowing and drifting snow in open areas, which can reduce drivers' visibility.
