Cary-Grove pitcher Taylor Langguth held Jacobs to five hits over seven innings and struck out seven batters to lead the Trojans to a 7-1 Fox Valley Conference victory in Cary.
Langguth allowed an earned run and didn't walk anyone. The only run against the senior came on a homer by Alexis Addante. At the plate, Langguth was 1 for 3 with two RBIs.
Katy Wieczorek went 3 for 3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, Kelly Johnson was 3 for 3 a triple, a stolen base and two RBIs, and Alyssa Gurgone drove in a run for C-G (2-8, 2-4 FVC).
Savannah Svedman took the loss for Jacobs (7-5-1, 2-3), giving up three earned runs on nine hits in six innings. She struck out three with no walks. Hannah Slocum had a double.
Crystal Lake South 10, Crystal Lake Central 0 (5 inn.): At Crystal Lake, the host Gators (9-5, 3-3 FVC) were led at the plate by Lauren Schoen, who finished 2 for 3 and drove in three in an FVC win. Chloe Skorija tossed five shutout innings, allowing just two hits with six strikeouts and a walk.
Cailey Giuffre finished 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored, Emily Sulikowski went 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI, and Sam Schettl went 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI. Also for South, Christina Toniolo was 2 for 3 with three runs scored an an RBI, and Skylar Olsen was 1 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Kenna Kessler had a double for the Tigers (2-8, 0-5), and Morgann Paaske had Central's other hit. Paaske also took the loss, striking out four in four innings.
McHenry 1, Dundee-Crown 0: At McHenry, Alyssa Pearson tossed a shutout for the Warriors (5-7, 2-2 FVC) in an FVC win. Pearson gave up four hits and struck out eight with three walks. Lindsey Ciesla went 1 for 2 and drove in the game's only run in the first inning with a double to score Jocelyn Currie (2 for 3).
Sydney Ruggles allowed just one run on four hits over six innings, but took the loss. She struck out six and walked three. Hannah Gestrich was 2 for 4 for the Chargers (7-6, 2-4), and Claire Weeks added a double.
Marengo 14, Woodstock North 4 (6 inn.): At Marengo, the Indians trailed, 4-2, after 1 1/2 innings, but scored 12 unanswered runs to beat the Thunder in KRC action, extending their conference winning streak to 56 games.
Marian Dionne entered in relief of starting pitcher Riley Connell (2 for 3) and didn't allow a run in 4 1/3 innings. She gave up three hits with nine strikeouts and a walk for the Indians (16-2, 6-0 KRC). Susie Nawrot went 3 for 3 with a double, four runs scored and two RBIs, Megan Anthony and Dionne each went 2 for 4 and drove in two, and Leah Secor went 2 for 4 with two runs scored.
Chloe Vermett was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI for the Thunder (5-6, 1-3), Ellie Thurow was 1 for 2 with a double, two runs scored and drove in one, and Savannah Adcock had a double and a run. Taeya Beard added a hit and an RBI.
Woodstock 15, Harvard 0 (6 inn.): At Harvard, the Blue Streaks scored 11 runs in the sixth in the KRC victory. Jocelyn Eisenmenger earned the win, allowing just two hits in seven innings with nine strikeouts and no walks for Woodstock (7-6, 2-3 KRC).
Abby Primus finished 2 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored, Eisenmenger was 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs, and Joanna Watson was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Katie Walsh added a double and three runs scored, Taylor Spanbauer scored three runs, and Michelle Hanson had two runs.
Allison Musgrove and Hannah Saucedo each had doubles in the loss for Harvard (1-11, 0-5).
Richmond-Burton 6, Johnsburg 1: At Johnsburg, Sophie Schwegel allowed just three hits and an unearned run for the Rockets (5-5, 3-2 KRC) in the KRC win. Schwegel struck out seven and walked three in the complete-game win, also going 2 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored.
Bella Spittler drove in two runs for the Rockets, Hannah Rudkin went 2 for 3 and an RBI, and Kaitie Regnier, Alexa Rodriguez (2 for 4, steal) and Peyton Bannon all drove in a run.
Paige King had a hit and an RBI for the Skyhawks (4-9, 2-3), and Leah Kottke and Hannah Roy added hits. Emily Owen took the loss, allowing four earned runs in seven innings with four strikeouts.
