HARVARD – A 59-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a car Wednesday in Harvard.
Harvard police and the Harvard Fire Protection District responded about 9:18 p.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of West Brink Street/Route 173 near Route 14 for a report of a car hitting a pedestrian.
The woman was taken to
OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, where she was later pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Harvard Police Department.
A preliminary investigation shows that a 25-year-old man was driving a 2007 Nissan east on West Brink Street. The woman was crossing the street from north to south, which is when the crash occurred, police said. Her name was not released.
The 25-year-old driver, who was not named in the release, was treated at the scene, according to the news release.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the Harvard Police Department are investigating the crash.
