CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College students interested in becoming mobile app developers can enroll in MCC’s newly accredited program for an associate degree in applied science in mobile application development.
The AAS degree and two certificates in mobile app development recently were granted accreditation by the Illinois Community College Board. MCC began offering prerequisite classes in the fall so students could get an early start on their degree.
“Mobile technology is the leading edge of high tech right now,” said Bill Skrzypczak, programming instructor and chairman of the Computers and Digital Media Department. “Businesses worldwide are adapting their existing legacy IT environments to the new mobile paradigm.”
The mobile app development degree program will include internships as well as job shadowing. Well-trained mobile app developers can earn high-paid jobs in several fields including corporate information technology, medicine, business process automation, advertising and marketing.
Several MCC classes this fall will go over Android and iOS development.
