Crystal Lake District 47 schools recognized for implementing positive behavioral program

CRYSTAL LAKE – Nine schools in Crystal Lake Elementary School District 47 received honors in the state for their implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports during the 2016-17 school year.

The Midwest PBIS Network is a process established for schools to implement positive environments and behavioral supports that help students succeed both socially and academically.

More than 475 schools participated and were recognized on four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Schools submit an online application and data supporting PBIS implementation efforts and outcomes, according to a District 47 news release.

North Elementary and Indian Prairie Elementary schools received the second highest honors with gold status in the district’s third year participating in PBIS.

Coventry, West, South and Woods Creek elementary schools received silver status. Hannah Beardsley Middle School, Husmann Elementary and Canterbury Elementary schools earned bronze status.
