Crystal Lake Park District police: Missing 16-year-old girl found in Veteran Acres Park

CRYSTAL LAKE – A 16-year-old girl who went missing in Crystal Lake was reunited with her family Thursday night, police said.

The girl went missing about 10 a.m. Thursday, and was believed to be at Veteran Acres Park, 330 N. Main St., Crystal Lake, according to a news release from Crystal Lake Park District police.

Officers searched the area and called in the Illinois-Wisconsin Search and Rescue Dogs, according to the release.

The girl was found unharmed within the park about 9:15 p.m., police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, but at this time there is no evidence of criminal activity.

Police thanked those who helped in the search.
