WOODSTOCK – In its 12th year Turning Point, the only domestic violence center specifically for women and children in McHenry County, is trying something new for its 2017 "radiothon."
Employees and volunteers with the Woodstock-based domestic violence agency once again paired up with on-air talent from Star 105.5 FM Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to host a fundraising event at Niko's Red Mill Tavern, 1040 Lake Ave., in Woodstock.
“The built-in crowd at Niko’s is incredible," Turning Point marketing and events coordinator Laura Richmond said. "We’re hoping to spread our mission to those who might not normally hear it.”
Turning Point offers a variety of bilingual services to McHenry County residents struggling with the effects of domestic violence. Its services include an emergency shelter, crisis services for victims, children's services, a trauma-informed mental health program and a partner abuse intervention program.
