High school volleyball roundup: Woodstock North sweeps Woodstock; McHenry earns 20th win

Grace Huelsman had seven kills and two blocks to lead Woodstock North to a 25-20, 25-17 Kishwaukee River Conference volleyball win against Woodstock on Tuesday in Woodstock.

Brooke Amann had seven kills and six digs for the visiting Thunder (14-13-1, 3-7 KRC), Sami Long had four kills, and Tori Galicia had three aces and seven assists. Emily Eder had nine assists, Lauren Kunke had six digs, and Kendra Bacon and Fallon Ash (three digs) each had an ace.

Sophie Wicker led the Blue Streaks (10-19-2, 1-8) with 10 digs and nine assists, Anna Almeida added six digs, Lauryn Hahn had four kills, and Julia Langton had five blocks.

Burlington Central 2, Harvard 0: At Burlington, the Hornets lost to the Rockets, 25-7, 25-10, in the KRC match. Katie Loughran had three assists and one ace for Harvard (0-22, 0-9 KRC), Hannah Saucedo had four digs, and Desiree Brady had one kill.

McHenry 2, Dundee-Crown 0: At McHenry, the Warriors beat the Chargers, 25-14, 25-10, in an FVC match. Liz Alsot had nine kills and nine digs for McHenry (20-8, 7-6 FVC), Paige Manssen had 11 assists and 11 digs, and Paige Hale had five kills. Dunja Masic added 13 assists, and Gabby Depersio had 12 digs. McHenry last won 20 matches in 2009 (21-13).

Tarrah Kamp led the Chargers (4-15, 1-13) with five kills, Jenna Brown had 10 assists and six digs, Claire Muhvic and Irene Martin (nine digs) had four kills each, and Zoe Sitarz had eight digs.

Cary-Grove 2, Jacobs 0: At Cary, Evynn Layshock had seven kills for the Trojans in a 25-12, 25-15 FVC victory over the Golden Eagles (5-18, 1-12 FVC). Kate Selsky had 19 digs for C-G (17-12, 8-6), and Amber Olson added 14 assists.

Huntley 2, Hampshire 0: At Hampshire, the Red Raiders won their eighth straight match, beating the Whip-Purs, 25-20, 25-18. Maggie Seagren had eight kills, two kills and a block for Hampshire (10-15, 3-10 FVC), Lucy Magnussen had four kills and a block, Riley Seagren had three kills, Sophie Holtz had eight assists and Abby DeDina had seven digs.

Crystal Lake Central 2, Crystal Lake South 0: At Crystal Lake, the visiting Tigers swept the Gators, 25-23, 25-22 in FVC action. Olivia Doak had 13 assists, eight digs and an ace for Central (26-3, 13-1 FVC), Megan Kelly recorded 10 assists, six kills, nine digs and two blocks, and Camryn Hausler (two aces) and Paige Hulata had six kills and three blocks apiece.

Also for the Tigers, Kendall Lownds had 12 digs, Madde Blake had six kills and five digs, Madeline Timmerman had four blocks, and Emily Kelly had four kills and seven digs.

Alden-Hebron 2, Faith Lutheran 1: At Hebron, Taylor Horton had 33 assists and 14 digs for the Giants (12-10-1) in a 22-25, 25-20, 28-26 nonconference win. Melanie Nielsen had 13 kills and 13 digs, Zoe Deeringer had nine kills, and Eden Wanderer had 14 digs for A-H.

Benet 2, Marian Central 0: At Lisle, the Hurricanes dropped the East Suburban Catholic Conference match, 25-20, 25-18, to the Redwings. Rachel Graham had five kills and six digs for Marian (13-16, 2-4 ESCC), Lilli Leggett had four kills and 10 digs, and Kate Messino had 14 assists.
