Letter: Time to recognize what NFL players are protesting

To the Editor:

In Jack McInturff’s letter regarding NFL players kneeling, he mentioned that he’d written a similar letter, yet the same thing still is going on a year later. Rather than directing anger to the fact that protests still are happening, think of why they’re still happening.

He stated that they are protesting the wrong way, I would like to know what he considers the right way. The NFL has a huge audience, and it’s those players rights to practice peaceful protest. If one were truly against racial injustice, it would be easy to recognize that this isn’t about the flag or the national anthem. Similar to how Rosa Parks was not protesting public transportation, this is about calling attention to the injustices against minorities in our country.

It is time to recognize the racism this country was founded on.
