I find people seem to either love or hate tamales. I love them and always imagine the care and effort put into making them by hand. Tamale-making is a ritual that has been part of Mexican life since pre-Hispanic times, when special fillings and forms were designated for each specific festival or life event. When done right, they are a delight. When done wrong, they are a dry disappointment. Thankfully, the tamales at Tacos Locos are done right.
The corn husk wrapped masa came to the table steaming. When unwrapped, the masa was still moist, and the shredded chicken filling was tender. With some added hot sauce, the overall effect was simple, filling and flavorful. For $6.99, two large tamales with rice and beans is an excellent choice at Tacos Locos.
We all have our favorite spots, and this may soon be yours – if not already. For good food and good service at a reasonable price, Tacos Locos is sure to please anyone who craves or appreciates Mexican food.
