Senior Aannah Interrante tossed in six 3-pointers and scored 28 points in her McHenry debut Monday as the Warriors defeated Larkin, 85-43, in their opener at the Burlington Central Tournament.
Interrante, who was 2017 Northwest Herald Girls Basketball Player of the Year, transferred with her sophomore sister Ava from Johnsburg to McHenry this season. Ava added 12 points, as did Ashley Wachter, who hit four 3s for the Warriors.
Junior guard Izzy Gscheidle scored 11 points and hit three 3s, giving McHenry (1-0) 13 3s for the game.
Center Liz Alsot scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Burlington Central 69, Prairie Ridge 39: At Burlington, the Wolves hit three 3s in the first quarter and were tied with the Rockets at the end of the first quarter before Burlington pulled away in the tournament victory.
The Wolves (0-1) were led by Karly Statter's 15 points and Nicole Dorn's 12. Those two and Emily Perhats all hit 3s in the first quarter, Dorn made another in the second.
Burlington (1-0) was led by Elana Wells with 20 points and Kathryn Schmidt with 18. The Rockets outscored Prairie Ridge, 26-10, in the second quarter.
Montini 69, Crystal Lake Central 22: At Elgin, the Tigers had a tough opener against the Class 4A third-place team from last season with a loss at the Harvest Christian Academy Tournament. Corrine Hamill scored 13 to lead Central (0-1). She hit a pair of 3s.
Asliyah Patty led the Broncos (1-0) with 24 points.
