CRYSTAL LAKE – There may not be much accumulation from the afternoon and evening snow fall in McHenry County, but it’s expected to affect the rush hour commute.
The National Weather Service issued an advisory for northern Illinois at 11:23 a.m. Thursday, stating that most areas will only see a dusting to an inch of accumulation.
However, the now days-long bitter cold spell means snow will stick on any untreated roadways and potentially cause slippery road conditions, according to the service. The service advises motorists to leave extra time to reach their intended destinations.
Temperatures will be in the low teens in the afternoon and dip to just above zero overnight, according to the service.
