High school bowling roundup: Huntley finishes ninth at Kaneland Sectional

No local teams advance to state meet

Huntley turned in the top score among four local teams competing Saturday at the IHSA Kaneland Sectional, but neither the Red Raiders, Jacobs, McHenry or Johnsburg were able to advance to next weekend's state meet.

Huntley scored 4,597 to finish ninth, and Abby Matula bowled a 1,051 to finish 54th overall. Jacobs (4,516) came in 10th and was led by Brianna Schmidt (1,188), who came in 29th overall.

McHenry (4,369) placed 11th with Destiny Draheim (941) topping the Warriors in 64th. Johnsburg finished 12th, and Alex Mendlik (895) led the Skyhawks in 69th.

Individually, Dundee-Crown's Mary Ehmann (1,177) placed 32nd, Woodstock's Rachael Stieg (1,153) finished 34th, and Hampshire's Kiele Moraska (1,126) came in 40th.
