McHENRY – About a month after a shooting at a McHenry home, a 36-year-old man who suffered a serious gunshot wound remains hospitalized, police said.
The McHenry Police Department has not released the names of the man or the 32-year-old woman who were involved in a domestic disturbance Jan. 15 in the 5100 block of Home Avenue.
The man has continued to receive treatment for his injuries, and there is no time frame for when he might be released, McHenry Deputy Police Chief Thomas Walsh said in an email Feb. 6.
A more specific update on the man’s condition was not available Monday, although police have said he was sent to Centegra Hospital – McHenry in critical condition immediately after the shooting.
The woman’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, and she was said to be in stable condition later the same day, police said.
Circumstances surrounding the original “disturbance” remain unclear, and police have not said whether they expect charges, or if they are waiting on the man’s release from the hospital to move forward with their investigation.
McHenry police were called to the home at 12:47 a.m. Jan. 15. When officers arrived, they were met by a 36-year-old man and 32-year-old woman who both had been shot.
A woman at the home Monday afternoon declined to comment on the situation or the man’s condition.
No one has been charged in connection with the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
