To the Editor:
I feel confused by President Donald Trump’s message. On the one hand, he wants to “Make America great again.” But on the other hand, he wants to slash the budget for the Environmental Protection Agency, gut the Clean Air Act, gut the Clean Water Act, drill in the Arctic Ocean and dismantle environmental protections. I understand Scott Pruitt at the EPA even overruled EPA scientists and now is allowing chlorpyrifos, a nerve gas pesticide, to be used on food crops. This pesticide has been known to cause neurological damage in infants and children.
I thought the purpose of government was to protect its citizens from harm. Environmental protections are in place to keep us from the harm of pollution. Now, I ask you, how can we make America great, if we are too ill and sick from pollution? I’m sorry, Donald, but dead people don’t shop.
Cough, cough, cough.
