White Sox third-base prospect Jake Burger was taken off the field on a cart Monday at Camelback Ranch in Phoenix after suffering an injury to his left Achilles tendon while running out a ground ball in the bottom of the third inning of the Sox’s 7-6 Cactus League victory over the Oakland Athletics, MLB.com’s Richard Justice reported.

The Sox said Burger’s status would be updated Tuesday, according to the report.

Burger was the No. 11 overall pick out of Missouri State in last year’s amateur draft.

Michael Kopech struck out three in two shutout innings for the Sox.
