WOODSTOCK – An upcoming Creative Living program at the Woodstock Opera House will feature filmmaker Mary Skinner, known for her award-winning documentary “Irena Sendler: In The Name of Their Mothers.”

Skinner, the daughter of a Polish World War II orphan, spent seven years making the film. The program will be at 10 a.m. March 15 at the Opera House, 121 Van Buren St., Woodstock.

Tickets cost $25 and are available at the Opera House Box Office, 815-338-5300 or www.woodstockoperahouse.com.

Attendees are invited for coffee and conversation at 9 a.m. at the Stage Left Café, 125 W. Van Buren St.

The subject of Skinner’s film, Irena Sendler was a social worker who was part of a clandestine network of Polish citizens. The group worked to outwit the Nazis, saving some 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto and almost certain death at Treblinka.

Skinner researched and recorded more than 70 hours of interviews with Sendler and other eyewitnesses to history, including people who were active in the Polish Resistance. The film had its National PBS premiere in 2011 on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The program is part of the Creative Living Series sponsored by the Woodstock Fine Arts Association, now in its 54th season.
