The Scots, one win away from their first trip to the NJCAA Division II National Championship, led for 14-plus minutes in the second half. The last six minutes of regulation, however, belonged to the Bobcats.
Bryant and Stratton, seeded No. 1 in the region, finished the fourth quarter on a 15-5 run, tying the game on a pair of free throws from Kiara Donaldson with 7.4 seconds left to force overtime.
In extra time, the Bobcats scored the first five points and never trailed in an 81-70 win against No. 3 seed MCC in the Region IV final at Waubonsee Community College.
The Bobcats (24-9) advance to the national tournament in Harrison, Arkansas. MCC ends the season at 22-11, including the program's first Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference title since 2005-06.
Wiley (shown above) said she noticed a change in the demeanor of her players going into overtime. MCC had chance after chance to extend its lead in the fourth quarter but committed three turnovers in the final 1:26, including a five-second violation.
"We put our heads down a bit when we went into overtime," Wiley said. "I didn't like the looks in the eyes as they walked off the court after we didn't finish it in regulation. They knew they had it at their fingers. We got tight. We had some great looks, got to the line and got tight. We didn't finish."
