The Land Conservancy of McHenry County has applied for accreditation through the Land Trust Alliance.
The organization recognizes conservation agencies that meet national standards for the protection of natural places and working land, according to a news release from the conservancy. A public comment period is open for interested parties to comment on McHenry County’s conservation organization.
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission will conduct a review of applicant policies and programs.
The accreditation process is voluntary and provides independent certification that the conservancy meets standards for land conservation, stewardship and nonprofit management.
The commission will accept signed, written statements about how the conservancy complies with national standards.

Comments about The Land Conservancy will be most useful if submitted before May 20.
