Norge Ski Club will offer fans a chance to meet its Olympic athletes Saturday.
Casey Larson, Mike Glasder and Kevin Bickner all began their ski jumping careers at the Fox River Grove club, and they went on to compete in the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Glasder has been a Norge member since he was 5 years old, Larson joined at age 6, and Bickner started when he was 9.
All three are local to the area. Bickner is from Wauconda, Larson is from Barrington, and Glasder, of Cary, is a McHenry County native.
The trio made up 75 percent of the U.S. men’s ski jump team. All three were coached by Scott Smith, who has been a coach at the club for about 30 years and almost qualified for the Olympics himself in the 1980s.
“Not where we wanted to finish, but we went out there and did our best,” Larson said at the time.
Norge Ski Club opened in 1905 and is the oldest, continually open ski club in the nation, according to its website.
The meet-and-greet will be from 1 to
3 p.m. Saturday at the ski club, 100 Ski Hill Road, Fox River Grove.
