Algonquin police issued 29 seat-belt citations during the Click It or Ticket campaign last month.
The campaign, which ran from May 18 to 29, also ticketed seven for child car seat violations, one for a suspended license, three for driving without insurance, eight for speeding and two for distracted driving, according to a news release from Algonquin police.
“It was a successful campaign, and we believe through our enforcement efforts we have helped save lives and raise awareness in our community,” Sgt. Robert Salazar said in the release. “We know seat belts save lives in vehicle crashes. Issuing tickets was not our goal, but it was a way to remind people of the importance of such a simple action.”
