Boys basketball: McHenry's Markgraff selected for all-star game

McHenry graduate Gavin Markgraff has been selected to the Class 3A-4A North boys squad for the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games, played at Pontiac High School on June 9.

The girls Class 1A-2A game starts at noon June 9, followed by the girls Class 3A-4A game at 2 p.m. The boys Class 1A-2A game is at 4 p.m., and the boys Class 3A-4A game is at 6 p.m.

Markgraff passed 1,000 points for his three-year varsity career and averaged 21.7 points a game (second in the area), while leading all local players with 106 3-pointers.

Markgraff, a 6-foot-4 guard who will play at NCAA Division III Illinois Wesleyan, is a two-time Northwest Herald All-Area first-team selection.
