A full-service music shop has opened in Huntley.
Resident Harry Choin recently held a grand opening for The Instrument Barn, 11810 Main St., Huntley. The store offers lessons and instrument repairs, sales and rentals.
Choin is a lifelong Huntley resident and musician.
He played in the U.S. Army Band while enlisted, and when his service was over, he wanted to continue working with music, he said.
“When I got out, I worked at local music stores but wanted to do more,” he said. “I got into the repair side of things and everything started to take off, so I decided to open my own business.”
A major part of the business model is offering hand-selected instruments that are in top condition, he said.
“I have 100 percent gone over everything I have, and [instruments] are in perfect playing condition,” Choin said. “I am focusing on intermediate and professional-level instruments, but I have some student instruments that are used. They are super affordable and completely overhauled.”
The showroom is open from 1 to
7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
