Police say alcohol might have been a factor in the hours-long standoff with a man accused of threatening to shoot someone with a gun over the weekend.
Six people – including one minor – were at William Cheatham’s house in the 1000 block of North Front Street when he arrived home Saturday, McHenry police public affairs officer Patrick Polidori said. The minor’s parent picked up the child and four other people left the home before the situation began, according to police.
Alcohol might have been involved, but the nearly five-hour span before the 55-year-old’s arrest makes it hard to be sure, Polidori said.
Authorities continue to investigate who owned the 15 guns seized from Cheatham’s home that night.
