Meet the 2018 Northwest Herald Girls Soccer All-Area team.

FIRST TEAM
Jenna Stayart, Cary-Grove, Fr., M/F – The younger Stayart nearly matched her sister with 14 goals this year as a freshman. She had five multi-goal games for the Trojans.
Kelly Stayart, Cary-Grove, Sr., M/F – C-G’s older Stayart sister scored 15 goals and had 10 assists for a Trojans team that reached a Class 3A sectional championship game. She was an Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State selection.
Raquel Hess, Crystal Lake South, Sr., D – The Gators recorded nine shutouts on their way to a Class 2A sectional championship game. Hess provided senior leadership on the back line.
Cameron Sengstock, Crystal Lake South, Sr., M – The Gators senior scored 17 goals and helped guide South to its third consecutive Class 2A regional championship. She will play at Division II Winona State.
Caitlin Strong, Jacobs, Sr., D – Strong was solid at center back for a Jacobs team that steadily improved over the course of the season, culminating with a Class 3A regional title.
Amber Humphres, Johnsburg, Sr., F – Johnsburg’s leading scorer had 22 goals and eight assists, helping the Skyhawks win a Class 1A regional championship.
Addison Fortin, Marian Central, Sr., M – The senior midfielder scored 16 goals, including five in the postseason, for the Hurricanes.
Jena Berkland, Prairie Ridge, Sr., M – Berkland scored 11 goals and had four assists for a Wolves team that started the year 17-0. She pushed the attack from the midfield position and was an IHSSCA All-State selection.
Samantha Gablenz, Prairie Ridge, Fr., GK – Gablenz recorded 12 shutouts, playing in all but one of Prairie Ridge’s 13 shutouts. She allowed three goals in 13 regular season appearances. The Wolves allowed only nine goals all year.
Sarah Kitterman, Richmond-Burton, Sr., D – One of the best defenders in the Kishwaukee River Conference, Kitterman will play next year at Division III Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Taylor Prerost, Woodstock North, Jr., F – The junior scored 29 goals and had 12 assists, both single-season school records at North. She had four hat tricks and has already set the Thunder career scoring record.
