Hearing on proposed Bull Valley cell tower set for July 30

Village officials welcome public to share comments, concerns about proposal

Bull Valley officials will hold a hearing about a proposed cell tower that has village residents concerned the project will lower their property values.

The next public hearing for the tower proposed at 1015 Ridge Road has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 30 at the McHenry County Farm Bureau, 1102 McConnell Road, Woodstock.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting to share comments and concerns about the project that attracted more than 100 residents to the village’s last hearing. Residents can send comments by mail to 1904 Cherry Valley Road, Bull Valley, IL 60098, or email bvvillageinfo@gmail.com.

Bull Valley residents can make an appointment at Village Hall to examine plans for the cell tower by visiting during normal business hours or calling 815-459-4833

Schaumburg-based SAC Wireless wants to build a 120-foot cell tower and lease it to Verizon on a slice of Bull Valley land – but residents are worried the tower will lower their property values in an area already stocked with dozens of towers.

About 100 Bull Valley residents packed the Loyola University Chicago Retreat and Ecology Campus on June 25 to share their concerns with Bull Valley officials and Jeremy Boone, a representative of the company that wants to construct the tower.

The property is owned by a trust composed of lawyers Herbert Franks and David Franks – the father and brother, respectively, of McHenry County Board Chairman Jack Franks.
