A man accused of sexually abusing and assaulting multiple underage victims will be nearly 80 years old when he’s eligible for release from prison.

A case scheduled to go to trial next week came to a close Friday when 58-year-old Richard Lampp agreed to serve 26 years for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and predatory criminal sexual assault, records show.

He remained at the McHenry County Jail on Monday evening, awaiting transportation to the Illinois Department of Corrections, jail records show.

Lampp, of Algonquin, faced natural life in prison.

One of the victims’ relatives said she and her family are happy Lampp is behind bars, where he can no longer “terrorize” children.

“...There really is no amount of time that will make us forgive or forget these terrible acts against our children and if it were up to us he would remain in prison the rest of his life...”

Lampp was accused of inappropriately touching a girl younger than 17 between January and December 2014, according to a complaint filed in McHenry County court.

Charges in another case accused Lampp of assaulting a girl younger than 13 in July 2016.

He was arrested Aug. 26, 2016, and additional charges were filed against him in a separate case Sept. 8 of that year.

Lampp’s attorney could not be reached on Monday.

Despite knowing prosecutors had discovered alleged child pornography that could be traced back to the 58-year-old, Lampp turned down two plea deals in January.

The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office followed through in April with threats to file new charges when they opened a case against Lampp alleging 10 counts of child pornography. Those charges were dismissed Friday as part of the negotiated plea.
