An Arkansas woman accused of firing a gun out of her vehicle’s passenger-side window over the weekend was released from jail Monday.
McHenry police arrested 27-year-old Paola D. Ramirez at 7:53 p.m. Sunday, a criminal complaint shows.
A witness previously had called police to report hearing a gunshot in the area of Bull Valley Road and Cunat Drive in McHenry.
Investigators made contact with Ramirez and learned she had shot a loaded handgun toward the ground through the passenger-side window while she was driving the car.
Another person was sitting in the passenger’s seat, police said. There were no injuries.
Ramirez, of the 2200 block of East Mountain Road, Springdale, Arkansas, is charged with aggravated use of a weapon, reckless conduct and disorderly conduct.
The most serious charge, aggravated use of a weapon, is a felony offense that typically is punishable by one to three years in prison. Disorderly conduct and reckless conduct are each misdemeanor charges.
It was not immediately clear why Ramirez was in Illinois or why she might have fired the gun.
Ramirez was released from the McHenry County Jail on Monday without posting a cash bond.
She’s due back in court Aug. 21.
