The Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District is investigating a fire that occurred Wednesday night and caused $200,000 in damage, officials with the department said.
The district responded to a call for a potential vehicle fire inside a garage about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. When first responders arrived in the zero to 100 block of Ridgecroft Lane, they found a ranch house with flames coming from the garage, according to a news release from the department.
No fire hydrants were near the property, so the district had to set up a rural water supply, where water is shuttled in from surrounding departments.
Firefighters got the fire under control in 20 minutes. No injuries were reported, and the home was turned back over to the homeowners Wednesday, according to the department.
A preliminary investigation shows that the fire appears to have started outside the house, but a cause is not yet known.
