Letter: Keep our water safe

To the Editor:

I am sending the following message to our legislators in Washington:

There is no requirement for public health more basic than a supply of safe drinking water, but in its effort to minimize government regulation, the federal administration is decreasing the safety of the nation’s water supplies in several ways.

Protection required by the Clean Water Act is being removed. Pollution by toxic substances from coal-fired power plants will be allowed to continue. The widespread presence of lead in water supplies is being ignored.

Please oppose these attacks on the safety of our water and support increased protection of our water supplies.
