Know basics of safe sleeping for infants

To the Editor:

October is Infant Safe Sleep and SIDS Awareness Month. I lost my first child and only son to SIDS in 1985.

I also have 2 adult "Rainbow" daughters. Sudden Infant Death Services (SIDS) of Illinois, Inc. was there to support my husband Rod and me when our son Brendan died.

We know so much more about how to keep our babies safe than we did 30 years ago! If you or someone you know has lost an infant, birth to age 1, regardless of cause or manner, and would like someone to talk to or to receive information on Safe Sleep for Baby, please call our toll-free number 800-432-4737 (SIDS).
