Richmond-Burton’s Lauryn Davis shot a 6-over-par 78 and is tied for ninth place after the first round of the Class 1A girls golf state tournament Friday at Red Tail Run in Decatur.
Davis avoided any big scores, with a birdie, 10 pars and seven bogeys.
Crystal Lake resident Neha Karna of Elgin Academy shot an 88 and is tied for 45th. Johnsburg’s Ellie Johnson shot an 89 and is tied for 51st.
Eureka’s Allison Pacocha leads at 1-under 71, three strokes better than the next two players.
In Class 2A, Crystal Lake Central co-op’s Molly Lyne is tied for 14th after a 5-over 77 at Hickory Point in Forsyth. Lyne’s teammate, Kat Bevill, is tied for 16th after a 78. Lyne, a junior at Cary-Grove, had three birdies in her round.
Lauren Beaudreau of Benet leads the Class 2A tournament at 5-under 67, four strokes ahead of runner-up Megan Furtney of St. Charles North. Beaudreau shot a 5-under 31 on the back nine.
State tournaments: The IHSA canceled the first round of the Class 1A, 2A and 3A state tournaments because of inclement weather, which included snow. The tournament will be reduced to one round Saturday with tee times remaining the same as Friday.
