Police seek vehicle in connection with Lake in the Hills restaurant owner's shooting death

Police are searching for a Nissan Rogue with tinted windows in connection with a Thursday shooting that killed Lake in the Hills restaurant owner Peter Rim.

The shooting occurred at 6:40 p.m. in the 4100 block of West Diversey Avenue, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.

Rim had been riding in the front passenger seat of a vehicle traveling west with two other people when an SUV pulled up beside them and fired four or five shots, Chicago police have said.

The SUV then fled west on Diversey Avenue and south on Kostner Avenue. The vehicle was missing its front license plate, and the rear plate number is unknown, according to the release.

The driver and other passenger of the vehicle were not harmed, but Rim, who was the co-owner of Bistro Wasabi and El Cochino in Lake in the Hills, was pronounced dead at the hospital hours later.

Word of Rim’s death shook the village’s business community. A social media post from Bistro Wasabi said Rim affected so many lives and that his wild, fun, energetic and loving legacy will live on forever.
