The Woodstock School District 200 Board has selected a new member to fill the seat of David Shinherr, who recently resigned.

Shinherr left his post in October after taking a job out of state. He had served on the board for six years.

Michelle Bidwell will take over his term. She said she plans to run for a permanent position on the board in the April 2 consolidated election, when three seats will be open.

Bidwell will be sworn in at Tuesday’s board meeting, according to a news release from the district.

She works as a clinical psychologist, has two children and has lived in Woodstock for 12 years, according to the release.

“As a parent, I am incredibly invested in this school district and working to provide the healthiest environment for our children’s learning and success,” Bidwell said. “I look forward to being a part of the board and collaborating to meet the needs of our district’s families and children.”

The filing period for the April election is Monday through Dec. 17.

No more than three candidates may come from any one township. Three of the current board members whose seats are not up for election in April are from Dorr Township, while the remaining seat not up for election is from Greenwood Township. Bidwell resides in Seneca Township.
