A registered sex offender evading arrest in Lake County was apprehended at his father’s Crystal Lake home Friday.
Working with the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team arrested 31-year-old John A. Redmond on Friday.
Redmond, a registered sex offender, was wanted for failure to appear in court in a previous criminal sexual abuse case stemming from charges that came after a 2013 Vernon Hills investigation.
He also was wanted on child pornography charges that stemmed from a 2016 Mundelein investigation.
Redmond previously lived in the 2000 block of Butrick Street in Waukegan, but authorities learned that he likely was avoiding arrest by staying with a family member in the 300 block of Valhalla Circle in Crystal Lake.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office posted Redmond’s information on the agency’s Most Wanted list.
Anonymous sources provided clues about Redmond’s possible whereabouts, including a construction site in the 26200 block of Elmwood Lane in Fremont Township, where he was working.
On Friday, Redmond was seen leaving the Crystal Lake home. Deputies followed him to the Fremont Township work site and arrested him.
Redmond remained at the Lake County Jail on Saturday on $500,000 bail. He is due in court at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 29.
Redmond’s father, Edward A. Redmond, 68, also was arrested in connection with keeping his son from authorities.
Edward Redmond was processed and released on $1,500 bond. He is due in court at 9 a.m. Jan. 29.
