Letter: Speech wasn't sane

To the Editor:

The President’s speech about the need for a Southern border wall should be considered the last straw for all sane people. This ridiculous man thinks that he can just throw lies and distorted “facts” out there and we will totally believe him.

He behaves as though he is a fifth grader on the playground and someone took away his lollipop! He says that he is very concerned about Americans, yet uses 800,000 government employees as pawns in his push for this wall.

By the way, I do believe that our country must figure out how to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and enforce our law. Those illegals who have been in this country for an extended period should be provided a path toward legality.

If they have a criminal past, then I support excluding them from any sort of program. The “Dreamers” without question must be accommodated with a program that protects them from deportation. They are precisely the sort of immigrants that we all want contributing to our society.

I have been a moderate Republican for my adult life, but I am sorely ashamed of my party. It has allowed a hard shift to the far right to occur and at the same time support this orange, racist, misogynist, narcissistic, lying clown. Now is the time to have your voice heard. Call your representatives.
