The Crystal Lake Police Department issued more than two dozen citations during Super Bowl weekend.
The department participated in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program.
Law enforcement agencies participated in the statewide effort from Feb. 1 to 3 by encouraging motorists to refrain from drinking and driving and enforcing the law to buckle up, particularly during late-night hours.
As a result of these additional patrols, the department conducted stops on 29 motorists for traffic violations, according to a news release.
Police issued 10 citations for unlawful use of an electronic communications device, 14 citations for speeding, one citation for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and six warnings for moving violations and equipment violations.
