To the Editor:
For the beleaguered Algonquin Township highway commissioner, another failure in court, this time for a manufactured crises of Andrew Gasser’s own making. Gasser has hired an extremely high-priced attorney that has cost the people of Algonquin Township hundreds of thousands of dollars.
That attorney has not been able to deliver anything of note for that taxpayer money. Now, I would not presume to call a man who has a successful law business incompetent; instead, the blame for these court failures must lie elsewhere. I would posit that Gasser’s high-cost attorney has been given a bad hand for when he goes to court.
His arguments fail to sway the court’s opinion because they are are based on the apparent incompetent actions of Gasser. Without a good argument to present to the court, the attorney, highly compensated by tax dollars, is doomed to fail. That really points to the problem being Gasser’s antics as a highway commissioner that is the cause for these failures.
These are legal proceeding games to deflect away from the poor job Gasser is doing as highway commissioner. Gasser was not elected to be the highway commissioner at large and phone in his job from out of state as it is now being reported. Now is the time for Gasser to really serve the township and resign. Let us have a present and competent highway commissioner.
