Johnsburg's girls basketball team collected its third regional championship in four seasons Friday with a 60-26 victory over the host Bandits at the Class 3A Chicago Resurrection Regional.

The Madsen sisters led the way, all three in double figures for the Skyhawks (19-11). Megan Madsen scored 16, her twin, Morgan, had 13, and freshman Macy added 10.

Johnsburg plays St. Viator at 6 p.m. Monday in the Class 3A Carmel Sectional semifinals.

GIRLS BOWLING

IHSA State Final Tournament: At Rockford, Jacobs' Brianna Schmidt and Dundee-Crown's Mary Ehmann finished the first day 33rd and 38th, respectively, to advance to Saturday's competition.

Schmidt had a total of 1,183 over six games with a high-game of 231, while Ehmann bowled a 1,177 with a high-game of 234.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Cary-Grove 58, Hampshire 51: At Cary, Beau Frericks scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Trojans to a critical Fox Valley Conference win.

Frank Jakubicek added 18 points.

With the victory, Cary-Grove (19-6, 10-4) moved into a three-way tie atop the FVC with Crystal Lake South and Crystal Lake Central.

Justin Anderson and Collin Woods each scored 11 points for Hampshire (15-13, 9-5), while Jackson Milison and Jeremy Rosa both had 10 points.

Jacobs 43, Dundee-Crown 41 (OT): At Carpentersville, Andrew Balkcom’s contested layup with 2.1 seconds remaining in overtime gave the Golden Eagles (12-14, 6-8) an FVC victory over the Chargers (17-8, 8-6).

Zach Leahy and Jaden Henderson scored 10 points each for Jacobs. Jalen Ramsey added nine with three 3s.

D-C's Brad Stec tied the score at the end of regulation. Jordan Hairston led the Chargers with nine points, and Kyle Huber added eight.

Burlington Central 72, Johnsburg 71: At Burlington, Zach Toussaint scored 32 points, but the Skyhawks (15-11, 8-3) fell to the Rockets (19-8, 7-2) in their Kishwaukee River Conference game.

The win puts Burlington into first place in the KRC with three games remaining. Johnsburg would have clinched a share of the title with a victory.

Pat Mayfield scored 14 of his team-high 27 points in the fourth for Burlington. He made two free throws with 2.5 seconds to go for the win.

Woodstock 55, Woodstock North 46: At Woodstock, ‪Evan Bridges and Andrew Adams each scored 12 points as the Blue Streaks earned a KRC win.

Ethan Patterson added 10 points for Woodstock (10-15, 4-5).

North (15-11, 6-3) trailed, 40-20, through three quarters. Zach White scored a game-high 14 points, with all coming in the fourth quarter. Mathew Fallaw had nine points, and Bradley Baseggio scored eight.

Alden-Hebron 55, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 20: At Rockford, the Giants routed the Guardians in a preview of Monday's Class 1A Durand Regional quarterfinal matchup.

Brad Judson led A-H (9-14) with 20 points and six rebounds, and Gideon Schauer provided 17 points and seven rebounds.

Huntley 63, Prairie Ridge 51: At Huntley, Nathan Draper hit five 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 15 points in the Red Raiders' FVC win.

Patrick Roppolo contributed 14 points for Huntley (14-14, 8-7), Uchenna Egekeze had 11 points, and Ryan Sroka scored eight.

Jared Lindquist led the Wolves (2-23, 1-14) with 16 points, Jack Podlasek added 11 points, and Michael Patterson had eight points.
