Fox River Grove family displaced after morning house fire

Firefighters respond to call about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday

A family was displaced Tuesday morning after a fire “gutted” a Fox River Grove home, a fire official said.

First responders were called about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday to the
400 block of Concord Avenue for a reported fire.

A woman and her five children were home at the time, Fox River Grove Fire Chief Robert Kreher said.

The single-story house had flames coming from the windows when crews arrived, he said.

No one was injured, including the family cat, he said.

Firefighters got the fire under control in about 20 minutes but remained at the scene until about 5:30 a.m. Concord Avenue was shut down during the incident, Kreher said.

The cause of the fire still is under investigation, and a damage estimate was not yet available Tuesday.

“It will be a total rebuild,” he said. “It was gutted.”
