Styf: What will it take to get you to vote by April 2?

On Monday morning, I went to the Country Inn and Suites in Crystal Lake to vote. When I arrived, the system wasn’t set up quite yet, so I waited. By myself. If this was the last election, or the next one, the place likely would have been packed. But this one, a local election on everything from McHenry County College and local school boards to the Fox Waterway Agency, likely won’t have large turnout. Ballots differ throughout the county, but MCC and District 155 were the only contested races on mine. So the actual voting took about two minutes.

Which brought me to the question of what is keeping people away from the polls. Rather than guess, I’d rather have you tell me. These are local elections that will impact you. We aren’t here to tell you how to vote, we’re here to inform you and help you make those decisions based on what you care about. But the election-related stories we’ve written so far haven’t had a lot of traction from our readership.

We would love for that to be different and to cover a ton more. But the interest hasn’t been there. So why not? What would you like to know that you don’t? What would it take to get you to vote, either now during early voting or on April 2? Early voting sites:
