Driver cited after Monday afternoon crash on Route 120

A two-car collision Monday afternoon in McHenry prompted a temporary closure of Route 120, McHenry Police Public Affairs Officer Patrick Polidori said.

A Nixle alert sent at 4:30 p.m. Monday advised motorists to avoid westbound Route 120. The road was opened at 4:44 p.m., according to a second alert.

A blue 2007 Audi SUV driven by Sangita Patel of Carpentersville was exiting a parking lot at 2210 W. Route 120 and trying to turn left onto the road, Polidori said.

Patel claimed that she had not seen a blue Ford F-250, which was traveling west on Route 120 in the curb lane and struck the front end of Patel’s vehicle, Polidori said.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene. No one was seriously injured, Polidori said

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was dispatched to the scene for reports of minor injuries, but no one involved in the collision required hospitalization, Polidori said.

Patel was cited for failure to yield from a private drive.
