The Richmond-Burton District 157 and Nippersink District 2 boards of education have approved a new five-year contract for Superintendent Tom Lind.
Lind’s new contract runs July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2024. His annual base salary is $190,000 and he is entitled to a 3 percent raise annually, under the contract.
The board approved Lind’s previous contract in December 2016 with an expiration date of June 30, 2020. The contract set a base salary of $155,000 with potential for raises. District officials weren’t available Monday to clarify how many raises Lind received between then and now.
Lind oversees both districts. District 157 pays 40 percent of his contract and District 2 pays 60 percent.
The school districts also will pay Lind $60 for a cellphone and $440 a month travel allowance, plus any business expenses, according to the contract. His previous contract allowed for a $375 monthly travel allowance.
The contract also provides for 25 vacation days a year, which can carry over into the first four months of the following year before expiring. Lind previously had 20 vacation days, according to district records.
Lind will also have two weeks of sick leave.
Nippersink District 2 operates a grade school, an elementary school and a middle school with total enrollment of 1,160, according to the Illinois State Board of Education. District 157 operates a high school with enrollment of 666, according to the board.
