A new trustee was elected to the Lakewood Village Board on Tuesday, according to unofficial results.

Trustee Patrick Rexroat was defeated by Pamela Eddy.

With eight out of eight precincts reporting and 444 votes cast, Eddy won about 67% of the total, with 298 votes. Rexroat garnered about 33%, with 146 votes. Eddy is set to serve a two-year term.

Rexroat was appointed a trustee in June 2017 by former Lakewood Village President Paul Serwatka.

Eddy, who has never run for office before, said she’s excited about the opportunity.

“I hope to do some good for the village,” she said, adding that she respects Rexroat’s work on the board. “Him and I have been friends.”

Eddy, a local environmentalist who has lived in the village for 19 years, said she hopes to bring a sense of unity to the board.

Eddy said she’s also concerned about property taxes and hopes to broaden the tax base with private investment.

“To most of the homeowners around here, the biggest thing is property taxes,” she said. “Unfortunately, the Village Board doesn’t always have a lot that they can do, but what they can do is bring businesses into the area.”

Rexroat couldn’t be reached for comment.

This was the village’s only contested race.

Trustee Phil Stephan ran unopposed for village president and will replace interim President J. Carl Davis in May.
