Lake County Sheriff's Office investigating after Mundelein man shot in his home

Police are investigating after a man was reportedly shot inside his unincorporated Mundelein home.

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded about 2:15 a.m. Monday to the 26000 block of North Hickory Avenue in unincorporated Mundelein, according to the sheriff’s office.

They found a 22-year-old resident at the home with a gunshot wound in his abdomen.

The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He was shot by someone who fired the gun from outside the house, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.
