Joe and Tammy's Family Restaurant in Harvard closes

Owners cite building issues as reason for departure

The owners of Joe and Tammy's Family Restaurant in Harvard announced Friday was the business' last day.

The Herrera family has been in the restaurant business in Harvard for more than 30 years, according to a social media post on the restaurant's Facebook page.

"This has been the hardest decision for Joe and Tammy to make," the post read. "Due to a variety of issues with the building, we have decided to not continue with our lease."

The restaurant, 69 N. Ayer St., was an American fare diner that served a variety of breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, soups and full dinners. The restaurant also hosted a Friday night fish fry, according to its website.

"We want to thank each and every one of our customers for your continued commitment with us throughout the year," the Herrera family wrote. "Harvard has and will continue to be our home and our family. This town helped us to raise our children into fine young, responsible adults, and we thank you deeply."

The phone number listed for the restaurant has been disconnected.
