Huntley police interview stranger who approached teen, determine no criminal intent

After an investigation, Huntley police have determined a stranger who offered a teenager a ride Monday morning had no malicious intentions, police said.

The teen allegedly was approached by a white box truck between 9 and 9:20 a.m. Monday. The incident occurred near Rainsford Drive and Jamestown Road, near Dunkin’ Donuts, police said.

An occupant of the van asked the teen if she wanted a ride. She refused and walked home without further contact, police said.

The mother of a 14-year-old girl reported the incident to police Monday morning, police said.

Police issued an alert seeking additional information on the vehicle or occupants to further investigate the incident. The department identified and interviewed the occupants of the van and have determined there was no “malicious or criminal” intent, police said.
