Letter: Marijuana's purpose

To the Editor:

In response to “Just what we need” on Aug. 7, I understand your concern about mixing the two drugs, alcohol and marijuana, as mixing them is a very different high than either alone. That being said, there are many benefits of marijuana (hence why there are medical purposes). It’s proven to help with anxiety, sleep, nausea/stomach problems, stress, etc. I could continue all day on the benefits of the drug.

People already have access to marijuana and just because it will be legal, it won’t change a thing. If people already smoke, they will continue to do so. By legalizing it, it will keep the drug off the streets/black market and benefit our state by generating tax dollars.
