Letter: Disgusted with minions

To the Editor:

Minion: a servile dependent follower.

There have been minions throughout recorded history. Followers of Genghis Khan, William the Conqueror, Napoleon Bonaparte and Adolf Hitler, to name a few. Whatever their lord and master says or does is fine by the minions. Opposing parties, media and educators are liars and traitors.

According to a recent letter writer, they are to blame for the shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, not the Republican Party, the National Rife Association or President Donald Trump. In Dayton, Connor Betts had a “hit list” of people he wanted to kill or rape. His Twitter account claimed support for Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, but he also posted that the Joe Biden generation should hurry up and die.

In El Paso, Patrick Crusius was clear about his intent: that he had been targeting Mexicans. His LinkedIn profile stated that he was not motivated to do anything more than what was needed to get by – not exactly the attitude of an environmental zealot. He wrote a rambling screed that supported doctrine of white supremacy and espoused Trump’s idea of a minority “invasion.”

Although the Democrats must share some of the blame, it is Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Trump and the NRA that are responsible. They and their minions who, like the lemming, have unthinkingly joined a mass movement in a headlong rush to destruction.
