Crystal Lake police have made an arrest related to a hit and run at the intersection of Virginia Road and Berkshire Drive Tuesday night that hospitalized two people, one of which with serious injuries.
More details on the arrest are expected to be released Wednesday morning.
Police responded to the intersection about 7:37 p.m. for a reported crash with injuries, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department. Responders identified a male and female victim who had been thrown from a motorcycle they were riding.
The male victim was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital with injuries that were life-threatening while the female victim was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries. The man later died.
A preliminary investigation determined that the motorcycle had been traveling south on Virginia Road when it was struck at the Berkshire Drive intersection by a red sedan, which fled the scene traveling west.
Crystal Lake's Accident Investigation Team examined the scene and collected evidence whole the roadway was closed.
